The hotel is located in the heart of Madrid, close to the Retiro Park. It is also in close proximity to three of the most important museums in the city: the Reina Sofia Centre of Modern Art, the Thyssen-Bornemisa Museum and the Prado.

Initially built by King Alfonso XIII in 1910, with the aid of César Ritz, the Ritx Hotel is housed in a classical building with a stone-cut white façade, which, lit up at night, resembles a palace. Although the property has been modernised, the lobby retains the spirit of the Belle Époque era, with its chandeliers, graceful columns, high ceilings and opulent décor. The 137 spacious guestrooms are no less impressive, being luxuriously appointed with hand woven carpets, embroidered bed linens, antique furniture, ample wardrobes. All are well equipped and immaculately maintained, as are the en suite bathrooms, complete with gilded fixtures, deep bathtubs and deluxe toiletries. The hotel’s Goya restaurant serves a wide selection of Mediterranean and Spanish cuisine in a relaxed and elegant atmosphere. There’s also a wide variety of drinks and cocktails on offer in the wood-panelled Velsquez Bar. Outside, white wicker armchairs and marble tables covered with crisp linen tablecloths are to be found throughout the hotel’s shaded terraces and enchanting gardens, making them, in summer, the perfect meeting place for a delightful al fresco lunch or dinner.
