The Asturias Hotel is housed in a traditional 6-storey corner building, which dates from 1900, with attractive wrought iron balconies and shops ranged along the ground floor. The lobby features cool white marble floors, mirrored pillars and a caramel-coloured wooden reception desk. The 175 guestrooms vary in size, but are pleasantly, if simply, appointed, with dark wood furnishings and wall-mounted reading lamps on either side of the bed. All are decently maintained, as are the functional en suite bathrooms with shower/tub combinations. The hotel’s El Principado Restaurant, on the first floor, serves Mediterranean dishes in a classic Spanish ambience. There’s also a simpler bar/café, offering light meals and drinks. Though a little worn and old fashioned, this hotel offers adequate accommodation at a decent price in a good location and is popular with younger travellers.
